A St. Catharines Roadrunners winter classic! The race starts at the base of Hydro Hill near the end of Lockhart Drive, St. Catharines (off Glenridge at the bottom of Brock hill) and follows the 12 Mile Creek trail out and back. The marathon course includes the notorious “Hydro Hill” twice. Half marathoners, quarter marathoners (see below) and walkers are also very welcome!
New in 2017, due to some of us aging and getting wiser, and hence being lesser fools (!) a 1/4 marathon was put in place. Here is a description of the route for this distance: start at the bottom of Hydro Hill at the gate and follow the usual course, at the end of the Westchester over pass, cross McGuire St. and turn right then run down, turn back at the first fire hydrant (behind the Meridian Centre) and retrace your steps back.
There is no entry fee for this event, but there are no marshals or aid stations, so you should have run the course before in the winter, or have a running partner who knows the course well!
Full (Fool) marathon starts at 8 am, half/quarter at 10 am.
The post-race party will be held at our club’s home, the Niagara Ball Hockey Club, 16 Melbourne Ave. St. Catharines starting about 12:30pm.
